Presenter: Tamara Feldman, Psy.D. and Discussant: Nancy
McWilliams, Ph.D.
Sexuality is a vital part of life. It is therefore not surprising that our
clients' sexuality and sexual functioning are frequently discussed topics in
psychotherapy. To best help our clients, we need to keep apprised of the most
accurate and up-to-date information in this area. It is especially incumbent
on us to do so because most of our clients do not have opportunity to talk
about and explore their sexuality in a setting other than psychotherapy.
Hence, as clinicians, we have a responsibility to be informed and
knowledgeable about this topic. To this end, this presentation will focus on
female sexuality and the female orgasm. Topics to be discussed include the
physiology of the female orgasm, female genital mislabeling within and beyond
the consulting room, normative variation in women's stimulation needs, and
psychodynamic issues around women's orgasmic functioning. A variety of
clinical situations will be discussed throughout the presentation in order to
highlight ways in which the presented information can be applied.
Three CE credits will be offered to participants completing post-workshop
forms. The Institute for Graduate Clinical Psychology, Widener University, is
approved by the American Psychological Association to offer continuing
education for psychologists. Widener University maintains responsibility for
the program.. Co-sponsored by PSPP and Widener
University Institute for Graduate Clinical Psychology.
