Unmanageable Desires: Toward a Relational Psychoanalytic Approach to Sex Addiction and Compulsive Sexual Behaviors

Learning Objectives
  • Participants will become familiar with the concept of sex addiction and the disease model of compulsive sexual behavior.
  • Participants will become familiar with relational psychoanalytic ideas about sexuality and their applicability to compulsive sexual behavior.
  • Participants will understand the conceptual and clinical differences between working with clients from a disease/ 12-step model and a relational psychoanalytic model of compulsive sexual behavior.
Date: February 11, 2007 
Time: 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.—Brunch
11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.—Presentation
12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.—Discussion

Cost / Registation: Each brunch, including CEU credits, is free for members of PSPP. Nonmembers may attend the brunches for free, but must pay $25 if they wish to receive CEU credits for their attendance. Registration in advance helps us to plan for the refreshments and seating arrangements. 
CE Credits: Psychologists—2.0 Continuing education credits will be offered by the Philadelphia Society for Psychoanalytic Psychology. Upon completion of the workshop evaluation form, a certificate will be provided. This serves as documentation of attendance for all participants. Psychologists will have their participation registered through Division 39. Division 39 is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. Division 39 maintains responsibility for this program and its content. Social Workers— Please note that we will be unable to provide social work CE credits for the February brunch.
